My dear Ellen:-
You Will, I think, be interested in reading something about
my la;ter conolusions oonoerning the war situation.. ]101' the most
pa.rt, they are drawn from what has appeared in the public press.
But, to some extent, they are based on directly reoeived or
indirectly reoeived information from persons who are supposed to
know. ~o about the same extent, they are based upon figures and
statistios appearing in purely business, class or soientifio publica:
tions.
First: Neither party to the war will be defeated as
a result of reduction of man power by war losses, direct or
indireot.
Second: Neither party will sucoumb as a result of
financial exhaustion.
::Chird.: Neither party will be starved into subjeotion,
as a result of any sort of blockading.
The war between the two contending belligerent groups of
nations can be oarried on for an indefinite period of years
five are, tell years, or a b:l.l!1dred years - - wi ei -ther one
the groups of oontending nations being oompelled to sue for
